1961 Cadillac Fleetwood

This is an elegant survivor, straight and true, runs smooth and strong, 98,356 miles. All original, always maintained, older paint, interior restoration. Super solid with all original sheet metal, numbers match.

California car.

Fleetwood is an eight-window hardtop with the “hardtop-convertible” roofline.  The last of the great finned land yachts, this is the car Don Draper lusts for in “Mad Men.” A fine example of its vintage, the Fleetwood comes with significant original features including the owner’s manual, service manual, vinyl case, and accessories booklet, the original keys with the knockout plates still in place, original California black license plates.

Provenance: In September, 1960, Evelyn and Laurence Dashiell went to the Cadillac dealership on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco with the winning raffle ticket from a church auction.  They claimed their prize – the ultimate American car – this 1961 Fleetwood. Thirty years later, they returned to trade her in.  The Fleetwood was acquired immediately by Greg Russell, the paint-and-body man at the dealership.  Greg gave the car an immaculate painting in the original Shadow Grey.  Greg passed on stewardship of the car to me in 1997.  She is a lot of fun to drive, tuning in the oldies stations on radio.
