1935 Auburn 653 Convertible Sedan

Auburn All Weather Phaeton Lycoming

Found in a large collection where it was virtually unused for decades this rare piece of American history is as sensational as it is breath taking.

Powered by the practical Lycoming 6-130 HP. The touring car is a full CCA classic as well as a practical vehicle to take out he family in to enjoy.

Exceedingly rare, this Auburn hails from the mind of E. L.Cord of Indiana and was among the most desirable collector cars in America and indeed the world.

The Model 653 was a stylish, durable and reasonably affordable vehicle. It was offered in three body styles including a Standard, Custom, and a Dual Ratio Salon. Power was from a six-cylinder engine that was capable of producing 85 horsepower. This power was sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual gearbox. The elegant and attractive bodies rested on a wheelbase that measured 120 inches.

Surrounding the mechanicals was a stylish, all steel body, a first for Auburn that featured a revamped grille, hood and fenders; the 1935 design eliminated the long standing beltline and the three curved hood louvers that appeared on the 1934 models.

This example is the desirable 4 door Convertible Sedan or Convertible Cabriolet. It is very correct and shows the time and efforts of its previous restoration years ago. In very sound condition throughout. The car is ready to enjoy or embark upon a comprehensive restoration with. Values of this car fully restored climb up to nearly $200,000.00

This car is from a long term collection. It runs beautifully and the older restoration is still quite crisp. The lovely paint theme of crimson over primrose befits the soft yet desirable qualities that make the car. Fitted with a beige canvas top and lovely oxblood leather, the wheel whites and real spokes set this beauty off.

The grace and build quality are very evident. Doors shut with a sense of integrity and build quality. Bright work and paint beginning to show just a little age but still very nice indeed.

Mechanically the car runs and drives well. Though it has been sitting for a long time, the car has seen very little use in the last several decades. Before taking in a tour or an extended trip, a proper service would be advised.

This car is priced to sell quickly. The price guides in this condition place its value at over $100,000.00. This is an incredible opportunity to purchase a legendary car for a fraction of its worth.
