1961 Borgward Isabella de luxe
VIN: 1175670 (chassis no.)
Odometer: 45,600+
Engine: 1,493cc I4 (75hp)
Trans.: 4-spd Manual (column)
The Borgward Isabella was produced from 1954 to 1962 by the auto-manufacturer Carl F. W. Borgward GmbH, based in Bremen, Germany. The vehicle was manufactured in several models including sedan, estate, coupe, and cabriolet. Intended to be marketed with a different name, "Isabella" was used on test vehicles and was so popular with engineering staff and media that the name was used for production.
This Isabella de luxe Saloon model is very original and a complete driver. The exterior paintwork is uniform with very few dings or chips. The chrome is bright, but the bumpers have a couple of dents that are easily straightened. The interior is very clean and almost like new.
The engine starts and runs well, and the gearbox operates normally. Power is delivered to the swing-arm rear end and propels this little sedan along the road smoothly.
A Borgward enthusiast will appreciate the rarity of this Isabella and will enjoy having it in their collection.
