1937 Ford 5-Window Coupe (Model 78)

$39,500.00
SOLD

VIN: 18-3825812

Odometer: 56144 (5 digit)

Engine: 221ci V8 Flathead (85hp)

Trans.: 3-spd Manual (sliding-mesh)

Ford transformed the look of the coupe in 1937; Headlights were faired into the fenders and both hood-side grill fins and radiator grill fins were rotated to horizontal. This made for a more streamlined appearance and differentiated trim models... The Standard model received body color grill treatment while the Deluxe model was appointed in chrome.

This 1937 Ford Model 78 5-Window Coupe was part of a barn-find on little Steamboat Island, near Olympia, WA, in the southern reaches of Puget Sound. It is a Standard trim model rolling in very original condition, and it appears the only update has been a repaint of the body in a stock Ford blue.

Fluids were drained and replenished and the old flathead V8 roared right to life and runs very well. The 3-speed transmission also functions without issue and shifts smoothly. Overall, the consensus is that the odometer is correct at a little over 56K miles.

The interior is in good condition with some age showing in the headliner and rear section. The seats are in fantastic condition and appear original. If they are not, they were done correctly and with great care to follow the original design.

These 1937 Ford 5-Window Coupes are great looking in both original and hot-rod configurations. This one could go either way and is ready for a new owner to put their creative desires to work.
